As the closest habitation to the Nellis Air Force Range and Area 51, Rachel enjoys a modest celebrity, particularly among aviation enthusiasts and UFO hunters. Driving directions Las Vegas to Rachel, NV 89001

1) Take the ramp onto I-15 N travel about 26 miles
2) Take exit 64 for US-93 N/Great Basin Hwy toward Pioche Ely about 0.2 miles

*******STOP AND FILL YOUR TANK AT ALAMO OR ASH SPRINGS>>>NO GAS FOR OVER 100 MILES*****

3) Turn left onto US-93 N/Great Basin Hwy travel about 85 miles

Note: below is a fork in the road watch on-coming traffic before staying left onto NV-375

4) Turn left onto NV-318 N/NV-375 N/State Hwy 375 - Continue to follow NV-375 N/State Hwy 375 about 40 miles

Head for Tonopah, NV from where you are.
Once in Tonopah, ****GAS UP!!!, NO GAS FOR 150 MILES!!
Get on highway 6 east and continue for about 50 miles to Highway 375
turn right on 375 and continue anither 59 miles to Rachel

AREA 51 BORDER

Take 375 south from The LITTLE A'LE'INN 19.8 miles to Mailbox Road. Turn to your right and go 3.5 miles to the water tank and corral. The road splits 3 ways, take the center road. After another 0.8 miles there is a major dirt road. Turn to the roght and go 8.5 miles to reach the boundary. DO NOT GO PAST THE WARNING SIGNS----YOU WILL BE ARRESTED!

NOTE: The "BLACK MAILBOX" no longer exists as of Mid-August 2014 The directions won't change as the road is still there, and it's the only road at that milepost.

There is a back gate nearer to Rachel that you can also go to.
Head south on 375 for 1.6 miles to a wide dirt road on the right side and turn on it. You will go behind the town and after 8.1 miles the road will be paved. Follow it 2.1 miles to the border gates---you can't miss the border there are red lights and crossing gates there also plenty of room to U-turn.
Another option, go WEST on 375 6.8 miles and turn left on the dirt road.
go 6.4 miles and then turn right and go 2.1 miles to the back gate
